Broadcast Promo Scheduling Software: The Promo Campaign Manager

The Campaign tool sets instructions, such as spot order, which provide the overall rules and constraints on how a thematic group of promos should plot and which channels/networks and types of breaks the campaign should target. The campaign supports additional parameters like series exclusions, airtime windows, day-of-week instructions, and separation rules. Within the campaign, you apply weighting to the promos themselves to increase or decrease the frequency of their placement.

BroadView’s broadcast promo scheduling module — the Promo Campaign Manager — automates promo placement across your networks so promos always have the right impact with minimal effort. Designed for multi-channel broadcasters, this broadcast promo scheduling tool handles campaigns, weighting, separation rules, and real-time adjustments in one place.

Workflow

The BROADVIEW PROMO CAMPAIGN MANAGER automates promo placement so that your promos always have the
right impact with minimal effort on your part. The Promo Campaign Manager has been specifically designed to give you the power, flexibility, and control to execute complex campaigns with minimal daily user input yet still achieve optimum reach. Campaigns are linked to Promos via Styles (such as “Tomorrow”, “Tonight”, or “Up Next”), which helps you  manage frequency, placement, and exclusions. The result is curated, automated placement of promos.

For optimum results, our approach is two-fold: Specific Product Campaigns allow priority promos to plot in the prime positions, and Filler Campaigns backfill the remaining open time. Promo Campaign Manager is easy to use and allows you to execute both simple and complex campaigns. A set of four interlocking tools within the Promo Campaign Manager govern the execution of high-level general instructions and detailed placement rules for promos requiring a specific positioning. Manual placement and locking of specific promos are also supported for the ultimate level of control. Scheduling and placement of promos are more critical than ever. BroadView’s Promo Campaign Manager addresses those needs. PROMO Define rich data points within each promo, including which networks or channels it can air on and for
how long. You can further refine promo placement with separation rules and airtime restrictions.

SCHEDULE LINK STYLES Control how and when promos are plotted within the overall campaign. Link styles define the rules around when and where promos should place and can be specific to a day of the week, a specific break number, or a usage window. This includes defining when a promo should start or stop airing, which perfects placement for promos like “Tomorrow” or “Tonight”.
CAMPAIGN SCHEDULER Use the Campaign Scheduler to adjust various campaign weights without creating a new campaign when changes are required. View and adjust the balance between multiple campaigns for multiple channels. Resting campaigns for a day or an entire time range is as simple as using zero weight to inhibit placement.

Alternatively, tweak the weight of an individual campaign upwards for a day to get a higher placement frequency.
A simple run of the promo plotter from the Log lets you make immediate changes if needed. If further changes are required, tweak the schedule or campaign setup and rerun the plotter.
TRAFFIC INTEGRATION If you are using the full suite of BroadView modules, including the traffic system, then PCM is fully integrated functionality within BroadView. Tools on the Log allow for the on-demand placement of your campaigns. Within the Log, you can manually place promos for even more precise positioning, and future runs of the promo plotter will not affect their placement.
For customers not using BroadView Traffic, we support integration with third-party traffic systems. This integration includes tools at three key levels. Promos can be set up and managed within either BroadView or the traffic system. This integration supports the exchange of promos between the two systems.
The Log Import interface parses the Log from the traffic system into BroadView so that the main tools of the Promo Campaign Manager can do their job. Existing scheduling tools within BroadView allow you to build out schedule, series, and program knowledge further to increase the power of the Promo Campaign Manager.
Once plotting is completed, export tools will return the completed promo breaks / log to the traffic system.

Broadcast Promo Scheduling Integrated with Traffic

BroadView’s broadcast promo scheduling works alongside BroadView Traffic and BroadView Programming for end-to-end broadcast management. See a live demo at NAB Show or contact us to learn more.

What Promo Scheduling Software Does

Promo scheduling software places on-air promotion the way traffic places commercials: against rules, not by hand. Campaigns carry the spot order, target channels and break types, airtime windows, day-of-week instructions, series exclusions and separation rules, and weighting decides how often each promo is used. Priority campaigns take the prime positions and filler campaigns backfill the remaining time.

Promo Scheduling on the Same Database as Traffic and Programming

Because promo scheduling shares a database with traffic and programming, promos are plotted against the same inventory and the same log the commercial schedule uses. Schedule changes are reflected without a separate import, and promos can be adjusted late in the day without rebuilding the campaign.
