Summary: With BroadView, Wild Brain, formerly known as Luken gained the information infrastructure necessary to advance their existing multicast environment across broadcast, cable, satellite and online streaming into an innovative, next-generation approach to multiplatform distribution.
___
Wild Brain, formerly known as Luken Communications is a national multicast television network provider reaching over 85 million households and covering approximately 80% of the United States, chose BroadView Software’s fully-integrated broadcast management tools to support their successful multi-platform initiative.
Luken’s business decision to pivot to OTT initiated the search for a technology partner who could provide the broadcast management tools, domain knowledge, and responsiveness needed to support their business plan.
The implementation included the full range of BroadView products, Programming, Sales, Traffic and OnDemand, to transform Luken’s workflow by consolidating all functionality into one integrated database. BroadView streamlined processes by eliminating the need to manage data across disparate systems, often requiring significant manual intervention. An integration to MusicMaster, a music rotation system for Heartland’s music videos, was also key to improving processes.
Implementation of the BroadView solution happened at a breakneck pace, with an aggressive project timeline that launched their networks on-air a mere three months after contract signing.
The major factor in Luken’s decision-making process was to find a technology partner who understood the complexities of managing six networks, all poised for growth in the OTT environment. With BroadView, Luken is able to easily add additional network outlets and additional functionality from OnDemand 2.0, BroadView’s sophisticated OTT toolset.
“We are at a crucial time of transition in our industry. We selected BroadView as our technology partner because of the flexibility and efficiencies they provide us. The integrated solution they offer streamlines our operation and sets the stage to manage our assets across any platform in the future” said David Leach, Luken Communications. “The information infrastructure we are creating with BroadView will carry us forward from today’s core business of a mix of linear OTT programming and online streams to the additional opportunities we are finding in the OnDemand space.”
“Luken is a wonderful, forward-thinking media company, and we share a common vision for the emerging multicast, multiplatform media environment,” said Michael Atkin, BroadView Founding Partner and President. “The key to optimizing across their different networks is by utilizing our unified database architecture. This is a
user-friendly approach that increases flexibility, and reduces data entry. It allows assets and all the associated metadata to be reused and repurposed effortlessly. From there, we’ve looked closely at their business practices to innovate a new workflow to maximize efficiency, productivity and profitability.”
Atkin added that BroadView is well-known for its innovative integrated programming and traffic solution. Now, the company’s sophisticated programming technology is being adopted widely because it is an ideal platform for both linear channels and OTT distribution.
